About Me

I am a photographer and marine mammal biologist, splitting my time between headshot/dance/portrait photography and a life at sea. I'm now based in Brighton, East Sussex, having spent a few years living in London.

Prior to this, I was based at the Sea Mammal Research Unit in St Andrews, Scotland, where I wrote my PhD on East African humpback whale migration. As part of my PhD I spent many months in South Africa and Mozambique conducting my fieldwork which included photographing as many whales as possible to help identify their movements and population structure. This led to my great love of photography, which over the past few years, has become a predominant part of my life.

Since then my photography has gradually become more portrait and studio based, focusing on dancers and performers, providing them with high quality headshots and portfolio images.

My fiancee is a dancer and choreographer. Being immersed in her dance life for the past 16 years has given me a genuine understanding of what makes a beautiful dance image or headshot and the importance that these have in advancing your career and setting you above all the rest. She will often assist me on dance shoots.

I have been lucky enough to have images published in high profile publications such as the Natural Geographic, encyclopaedias and the local and international press, as well as corporate branding.

Regardless of the location or subject being photographed, my aim is to always produce a beautiful, natural looking image which reflects and captures the true feeling and emotion of the person.

Thank you for taking the time to browse my portfolio. Should you wish to discuss your own shoot with me or if you would like to purchase any of the images featured, please feel free to email me via the contact page.
