I’m a marine mammal biologist and photographer. I was born and raised
in the UK but have been lucky enough to travel extensively with my work.
I'm currently based at the Sea Mammal Research Unit in St Andrews,
Scotland, writing a PhD on East African humpback whale migration.
The photographic work involved in my PhD - photographing whales to help
identify the movement of individuals - led to my great love for photography.
Over the last few years it has become a very important part of my life.
My camera allows me to record not only data for my research, but also the
places, people and wildlife that I encounter through my work, travels and
life in general.
With each of my photographs I try to produce a beautiful, natural looking
image, that reflects the true feeling and emotion of the subject. Whether
it is your baby’s smile, the breach of a whale or the glint in a bride’s eye, I
always do my best to capture and record that moment.
Although I love taking photographs on location, I also enjoy studio
photography – the power of lighting, clothing, and a well-posed image can be truly striking.
I hope you enjoy looking through my portfolio and should you wish to discuss your own shoot or you
would like to purchase any of the images featured, please feel free to email me via the contact page
or buy directly through my site.
